Gan Zizhao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, was the leader of the “Research Center for Wide Bandgap Semiconductor of PKU” team which was the first group of specialists of innovative science and technology introduced into Guangdong province. Gan is currently the honorary chairman of Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
In May 2010, the team of Research Center for Wide Bandgap Semiconductor of PKU led by Gan Zizhao was introduced into Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd for the project “Study on GaN substrate materials and devices”. Guided by Academician Gan Zizhao, China’s first GaN substrate material production line and PSS patterned sapphire substrate production line have been established by Sino Nitride successively, and great economic and social benefits have been obtained. The company’s success has improved the LED industrial chain in Guangdong province and further driven the development of China's third-generation semiconductor industry.
Mr. Chen Jianmin, the president of Guangda Group, is the founder of Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd and was the first chairman of board of the company. Mr. Chen has held a number of positions, especially in the business world, including vice chairman of Guangdong Youth Entrepreneurs Association, a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Dongguan Committee, vice chairman of Dongguan General Chamber of Commerce at Dongguan Federation of Industry and Commerce, vice chairman of Dongguan Youth Entrepreneurs Association, vice chairman of the first executive committee of the World Dongguan Entrepreneurs Federation, etc.
Mr. Chen Jianmin has been a pioneer in the development of Dongguan’s high-tech industries. Mr. Chen returned to China in 2006 after his overseas study. In 2008 he established Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd with his ambition of reviving national industry and brought in Guangdong’s first innovative scientific research team which enabled Sino Nitride to become China’s first production base specializing in production of GaN substrate materials and semiconductor equipment, and to start to write the history of the nation’s GaN semiconductor substrate industry. At present the company has more than ten national and international patents for invention with its globally top listed products and technologies.
Zhang Guoyi, holding a PhD in Physics, is currently the chairman of board at Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd, a professor at the School of Physics at Peking University, the director of Research Center for Wide Bandgap Semiconductor of PKU. Professor Zhang has also held the positons including executive deputy director of the Professional Committee of Wide-bandgap Semiconductor, the Nonferrous Metals Society of China, vice chairman of China Solid State Lighting Alliance, member of the executive committee and the panel of China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance, member of Committee on Luminescence of the Chinese Physics Society, and member of the executive committee of Information and Electronics Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
In December 2008, Professor Zhang established Sino Nitride Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Under the guidance of the professor, Sino Nitride experienced rapid development and has incubated Beijing Yan Yuan Sino Nitride Semiconductor Engineering Research and Development Center Co., Ltd, Dongguan Sinoinnovo Semiconductor Lighting Co., Ltd and Dongguan Sino Patt Semiconductor Co., Ltd, and prompted the companies to further develop upstream and downstream technology and to gradually cover each section of the industrial chain. Until now Sino Nitride has enabled Dongguan to develop unique industrial technologies in subdivided fields such as GaN single crystal substrate and composite substrate, LED industrial chain, electronic power device, etc. and form a distinctive and highly competitive industrial cluster in the substrate field.
